- Our Story -

It all began long ago with one man and a dream.

On a dark cold night in what is known as Surrey, England today, a traveler knocked on the door of my ancestor’s home. He told him that he had been walking through the snow for some time and was cold and hungry. My ancestor Buckley cooked the hooded traveler a meal. He allowed him to stay the night and in the morning the traveler paid him several gold coins and thanked him. Several days later the hooded traveler returned with five other hooded figures. They talked Buckley into working with them on a special project they were working on. They told him that they would put his great cooking skills to use.

They then gave Buckley enough money to build a restaurant they helped him plan it out and had only one condition. The condition was that he adopt the sir name Mealcot and name his restaurant after the last name he took on. He agreed and for as long as a Mealcot has run the business we have been successful. In the early 1900s, we renamed the restaurant from just Mealcot’s to Mealcot Bar & Grill. Over the centuries we have also expanded across the world with fifteen locations worldwide.
